Adults Adopting Special Kids (AASK) is North Dakota's program providing adoption services to children in foster care and the families who adopt them. The program is a collaborative effort of Catholic Charities North Dakota & PATH ND, Inc.
Because our kids come with unique personalities and special challenges (remember - many of these kids have endured significant traumatic events), you'll get to take a foster/adopt preparation course, called PRIDE. This will help you prepare for adopting a child or sibling group from foster care. Don't worry, we'll connect you with a local class. We'll also be with you during your home study process. It may seem like a lot, but we want to be sure you're ready and we want to be sure our kids, who've already endured so much, will join a loving family for life.
North Dakota Post Adopt Network- a service of the Adults Adopting Special Kids Program
The Adults Adopting Special Kids (AASK) Program is excited to provide the North Dakota Post Adopt Network to adoptive families and guardians after finalization. Although the AASK Program has always been available to provide post finalization support, we are now able to give priority and focused attention to that need. Services provided can include crisis case management, advocacy and referral to service providers, phone and face-to-face support, parent and youth support groups, mentorship for youth and families, among other supports.
Whether you've adopted from foster care, infant, domestic, or international adoption, or provide guardianship for a youth in your home, we invite you to join our network to connect with others who are also experiencing life after adoption!
We have great confidence that this service will provide the post finalization support that we have so needed in our state. Thank you for your continued commitment to keeping your family strong.
A home for every child.
