County Foster Care
Family foster care is for children who need to be removed from their homes due to abuse, neglect, or other family crisis situations. Foster parents provide a stable and supportive environment for children. Foster parents work with social service staff to reunite children with their families or develop an alternative living arrangement. Placement lengths vary from few days to several months or sometimes longer.
A home for every child.

Thank you for your interest in Foster Care!
Richland County Social Services has two licensing workers that can help you navigate through the foster licensing process. Typically the licensing process takes 4-8 weeks. We are seeking couples and individuals that can help provide a safe and nurturing environment for children coming into foster care. Characteristics that we look for in foster parents include stability, flexibility and organization with planning and scheduling. We license homes for children 0-18 and work with the family to see what ages/behaviors work best for that particular family; this isn’t locked in and can be changed throughout the licensing period according to the family’s needs. Foster parents can rent or own their home, but they must be financially stable. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any further questions! Thank you!
